
What's the role?
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented candidate to join our team as a Data and Information Services Officer on an initial 12 month contract This role is pivotal where you will help manage our information assets, supporting journalists with timely research, and ensuring the integrity and accessibility of our digital and physical archives.
Responsibilities:
Information Management: including but not limited to archiving text, page images, photographs, and negatives. This includes data entry, processing data in OpenText CHP, constructing accurate records, adding metadata, and meeting syndication deadlines.
Research and Reference Service: Support company departments by responding to internal reference and research enquiries with timely, accurate information and retrieval of archived materials. Work closely with the Content Licensing team on ad hoc projects.
Physical Collection Maintenance: ensuring upkeep of hardcopy collections, managing loans and returns, shelving.
Administration: Managing tasks effectively, adhering to systems and prioritising workload.
Who are you?
You’re studying towards or have a Diploma of Library and Information Services (or equivalent)
You’re passionate about delivering great customer service and communicate clearly, both in writing and speaking
You’re confident with digital tools (especially Google Workspace) and have a keen eye for detail
You’re flexible and reliable, available to work rostered evenings, weekends, and public holidays
You can manage your time well - planning, prioritising, and meeting deadlines comes naturally to you
You’re eligible (or working towards eligibility) for Library Technician membership with Australian Library and Information Association - this is highly regarded
Library experience viewed favourably, but not essential
