Data Analyst, Philanthropic Funds-(260007D3)

A Brief Overview

The Data Analyst supports philanthropic fund management by developing reliable reports, dashboards, and actionable insights related to fund balances, utilization, gift activity, and endowment performance. This role partners across Finance, Philanthropy, and Operations to improve data quality, automate reporting, and support informed decision-making and effective stewardship.

What You Will Do

  • Researches, analyzes, and presents findings related to philanthropic funds, gift activity, endowment distributions, fund utilization, and financial performance. The primary scope of this role includes philanthropic fund management, financial stewardship, reporting, data governance, and strategic decision support.
  • Produces recurring financial and analytical reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for internal stakeholders, including Finance, Institutional Relations and Development, clinical and operational leaders, community hospital foundations, and executive leadership. Creates Power BI models, tableau, data sets, dashboards, and other recurring reporting deliverables.
  • Develops reporting and analytics that provide visibility into philanthropic fund balances, available spending capacity, historical activity, fund utilization, endowment distributions, donor restrictions, and other key performance indicators.
  • Researches, develops, and implements new metrics, standardized reports, and analytical tools to measure the effectiveness and impact of the Philanthropic Fund Management program.
  • Analyzes fund activity and utilization trends to identify underutilized funds, significant available balances, data anomalies, emerging risks, and opportunities to more effectively deploy philanthropic resources in alignment with donor intent and organizational priorities.
  • Partners with philanthropic fund management, accounting, development, and operational teams to gather reporting requirements, interpret business needs, and translate complex financial and philanthropic data into clear, actionable information for non-financial audiences.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of consistent data definitions, reporting standards, documentation, and data-quality controls across financial and philanthropic systems.
  • Performs data validation and reconciliation across multiple information sources to promote the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of reports and dashboards.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate manual reporting processes, improve access to information, and strengthen the scalability and efficiency of the Philanthropic Fund Management program.
  • Assists with special projects, executive presentations, strategic analyses, and ad hoc information requests related to philanthropic resources

Additional Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, accounting, finance, business, information systems, economics, statistics, or a related field. (Required) and
  • Master's Degree Master’s degree in business administration, data analytics, finance, or a related field. (Preferred)

Work Experience

  • 3+ years Experience developing dashboards, recurring management reports, or data visualizations using Power BI or a comparable business intelligence platform. (Required)
  • 2+ years experience in data analysis, financial analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or a related analytical role. (Required)
  • 3+ years Experience working in healthcare, higher education, nonprofit organizations, foundations, philanthropy, accounting, or financial services. (Preferred)

  • Must possess demonstrable critical thinking and problem solving skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with willingness to learn more advanced capabilities. (Required proficiency)
  • Functional knowledge of accounting, healthcare finance, and healthcare terminology (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to translate complex financial and analytical information into clear, practical language for individuals outside of Finance, Accounting, or Data Analytics. (Required proficiency)
  • Self-directed, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in an evolving program where new reporting capabilities, processes, and performance measures are being developed. (Required proficiency)
