Data Analyst


The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting analytical projects, building dashboards, and delivering insights that drive business performance across the merchandise services organization. This role partners with the Manager, Master Data Management and cross-functional teams to conduct analyses, automate reporting, and provide data-driven recommendations across planning, pricing, space, and promotional functions.This is a foundational role in building the company's analytical capabilities, requiring someone who can extract and transform data, develop visualizations, and translate analytical findings into actionable insights for business stakeholders. As with all positions, this person embodies the core essence of the London Drugs Brand Framework by always going above and beyond the expected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Extraction & Analysis:

  • Extract data from multiple systems using SQL and other data extraction tools to support analytical requests
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights across merchandise services functions
  • Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical work products
  • Clean and transform raw data into analysis-ready datasets using analytical platforms
  • Support ad-hoc analytical requests from Manager, Master Data Management and functional leaders

Dashboard & Visualization Development:

  • Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations using business intelligence tools to track key performance metrics
  • Develop automated reporting solutions that reduce manual effort and improve data timeliness
  • Design clear, compelling visualizations that communicate insights effectively to business audiences
  • Partner with functional teams to understand reporting requirements and dashboard preferences
  • Maintain dashboard accuracy through regular data refreshes and validation processes

Analytical Project Support:

  • Support strategic analytical projects including category performance analysis, pricing studies, and promotional effectiveness reviews
  • Conduct research and data gathering to support business cases and strategic recommendations
  • Build analytical models and tools to improve efficiency and quality of recurring analyses
  • Document analytical methodologies, assumptions, and data sources to ensure reproducibility
  • Prepare presentations and summaries of analytical findings for stakeholder review

Cross-Functional Analytical Support:

  • Partner with Planning, Pricing, Space, and other functional teams to deliver analytical support
  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches and data requirements
  • Conduct analyses that integrate data across multiple functions to provide holistic business insights
  • Communicate findings clearly to business stakeholders with varying levels of analytical sophistication
  • Identify data gaps and partner with IT and Master Data Management to address data availability issues

Platform Development & Automation:

  • Support implementation and optimization of analytical platforms and tools
  • Build automated workflows that streamline data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes
  • Develop reusable analytical templates and frameworks to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Test and validate analytical tools and processes to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Document technical processes and create user guides to enable self-service analytics

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data modeling
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to translate data into clear insights for business audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with retail data including sales, inventory, pricing, or customer analytics
  • Familiarity with advanced analytical platforms
  • Experience with statistical software or programming languages
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and cloud-based analytics platforms
  • Experience supporting cross-functional analytical projects
