GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position focuses on data analysis, reporting, and data management support. This is technical work involving data collection, verification, and reporting. This position focuses on transforming data into actionable insights, creating reports and dashboards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of the Lottery’s Responsible Gaming program, including the No Underage Play and Play Within Your Means messaging, and will ensure retailers and players are aware of the program and provided information, as necessary.
  • Serve as a backup to the liaison for Public Records Requests. Ensure responses are accurate and timely.
  • Create reports for internal teams and/or external clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data.
  • Use graphs, infographics, and other methods to visualize data.
  • Structure large data sets to find usable information.
  • Provides the technical skills and techniques required to assist with team development and training.
  • Analyze business needs to develop specific functional requirements.
  • Create database objects, indexed files, and other related files as required by system design.
  • Collaborate with team to identify and correct data discrepancies to ensure data quality.
  • Develop acceptance test plans to ensure that data and reporting meets functional specifications.
  • Assist with Business Intelligence report development and training.
  • Support data governance activities, including data definitions, data standards, and metadata documentation.
  • Analyze trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to support operational and management decision-making.
  • Assist with data integrations and data feeds by validating inputs and outputs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support audit, compliance, and records requests by ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to clarify data needs and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in team knowledge sharing and documentation to promote continuity and consistency across Data Management activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in using SQL for creating database queries and troubleshooting or optimizing existing queries for performance.
  • Knowledge of advanced data processing concepts, terminology and programming methodology and techniques, and of relational database concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of one or more high-level computer programming languages and of relational databases.
  • Knowledge of software engineering life cycle methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleansing, and transforming techniques.
  • Reporting and data visualization skills using software like Lumira or Tableau.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and ETL techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to learn new skills as they relate to changing technologies, hardware or software platforms, communications methodologies, and programming languages.
  • Ability to develop, test and debug computer programs.
  • Ability to think logically, analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively with non-technical staff and management.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and define user system needs.
  • Ability to develop and present clear and comprehensive technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
  • Ability to collaborate with appropriate sources.
  • Ability to research and develop technical solutions to problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and accounting principles.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required
