Who We Are
AMS Corporation is a nuclear engineering services company based in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a mission to ensure the safe operation of the worldwide nuclear fleet. Founded in 1977 as a spinoff of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee, AMS has nearly 50 years of experience developing innovative testing technologies and engineering solutions that help nuclear facilities maintain safe, reliable, and compliant instrumentation and control (I&C) systems.
What We Do
AMS supports nuclear facilities worldwide with specialized expertise in I&C system testing, equipment qualification, wireless and online monitoring, cable aging diagnostics, calibration verification, and advanced data analysis. Our engineers work across nuclear power plants, research reactors, naval propulsion programs, and national security installations to ensure systems perform safely, reliably, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
What It’s Like to Work Here
At AMS, you’ll join a collaborative team of experts across nuclear, electrical, mechanical, computer, and materials engineering. We invest heavily in research and development, encourage creativity in problem-solving, and provide hands-on opportunities to contribute from day one. Many employees build long careers here because they’re able to learn continuously, take on diverse technical challenges, and work in an environment guided by teamwork, respect, and shared purpose.
AMS is seeking an Data Analyst Engineer to support the analysis of instrumentation data collected from operating nuclear power plants as part of AMS’s Online Monitoring (OLM) program.
OLM is a condition-based maintenance technology used to evaluate the performance, reliability, and long-term health of critical plant instrumentation. Rather than relying solely on periodic manual calibrations, OLM uses sensor measurement data and engineering analysis to determine whether instruments are performing within established limits and whether calibration or maintenance may be needed.
This is an applied engineering and data analysis role for someone who wants to work with real nuclear plant data, proprietary engineering software, instrumentation systems, and technically rigorous reporting. The Data Analyst Engineer will analyze plant operating data, support engineering evaluations, participate in field data acquisition activities, and contribute to reports used by nuclear utilities to make maintenance and calibration decisions by directly contributing to plant safety, reliability, and cost reductions.
Successful Data Analyst Engineers combine strong analytical ability with curiosity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Training will be provided in AMS’s OLM methodology, proprietary analysis software, nuclear plant instrumentation, nuclear safety culture, nuclear plant work management and licensing strategies, quality assurance processes, and technical reporting requirements.
The goal of this position is to develop an engineer who can grow into a trusted technical contributor capable of independently performing OLM analysis, supporting field testing, preparing high-quality engineering reports, and helping advance and grow AMS’s condition-based maintenance technologies throughout the industry.
What You’ll Do
These responsibilities reflect the core expectations established for AMS’s entry-level Data Analyst Engineer position, including OLM analysis, software proficiency, report preparation, quality assurance support, plant-trip participation, and disciplined documentation.
