Introduction

Bank Mendes Gans (BMG) exclusively engages in cash pooling and netting for multinationals. BMG allows corporate treasurers to maximize liquidity and gain control of all cash flows. We operate a bank-independent model and we handle most of the world’s convertible currencies. Our clients are supported with a high level of professionalism and superior client service. BMG is globally recognized as a specialized bank for liquidity and cash management services and part of ING Wholesale Banking – the Transaction Services domain. In 2024, BMG legally merged with ING and kept its own branding and name.

Your role & work environment

Within BMG Finance Control, this role is positioned at the core of management reporting, regulatory compliance, and the strengthening of our control framework.

As Data Analyst, you are not just delivering insights, you ensure that financial data, reporting outputs, and underlying datasets are complete, consistent, auditable and aligned with ING standards and regulatory expectations.

At the same time, you play a key role in unlocking the value of data within BMG, leveraging modern analytics, dashboarding and AI-driven insights to improve decision-making and performance across Finance and the wider organisation.

The role contributes to the ongoing professionalisation and automation of Finance processes, including the transition towards more standardised and data-driven reporting within BMG.

Your key responsibilities

1. Management reporting & financial insight

  • Deliver and continuously improve management reporting (including KPI dashboards and topline reporting)
  • Support the monthly close and reporting cycle with high-quality, validated data
  • Provide structured financial analysis and variance insights to Finance and senior management
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for decision-making

2. Data ownership & data quality (Finance datasets)

  • Take ownership of Finance datasets, including definitions, structure and lifecycle management
  • Perform data validation checks and ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency of reporting outputs
  • Identify, analyse and escalate data quality issues and structural deficiencies
  • Drive improvements in data architecture and analytics frameworks across Finance

3. Controls, audit readiness & documentation

  • Embed and maintain controls within Finance data flows and reporting processes
  • Ensure all datasets and reporting outputs are audit-proof, including clear documentation of definitions, logic and reconciliations
  • Help improve data transparency, traceability and control evidence

4. Standardisation & automation of Finance processes

  • Drive standardisation of data definitions, reporting structures and calculation logic
  • Reduce manual Excel-based reporting by developing scalable and automated data solutions
  • Convert existing reporting and Excel models into sustainable, data-driven solutions
  • Leverage of modern technologies (Power BI, data platforms, AI tooling) to improve efficiency and performance

5. Business partnering within BMG

  • Act as a data and reporting sparring partner for Finance Control, Treasury and COO stakeholders
  • Translate business requirements into structured and sustainable data solutions
  • Support decision-making by providing robust, evidence-based insights
  • Ensure alignment with ING data standards and Finance policies

6. Data innovation & dashboarding

  • Develop and enhance dashboards to support Finance, management and stakeholders
  • Identify and prioritise high-impact data opportunities across BMG
  • Contribute to KPI dashboards and management reporting for MT and business domains
  • Explore opportunities in AI and advanced analytics to improve insights and processes

We are looking for

A professional who combines strong analytical capability with a Finance Control mindset, and who is able to bridge data, reporting and governance in a structured way. Having worked in BMG or a similar entity in ING within Finance & Data analytics is a plus.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree (WO) in Finance, Econometrics, Data Science or similar
  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in (BMG/ING) Finance, reporting or data analytics

Experience in banking or financial services is strongly preferred

Your skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to structure complex datasets
  • Advanced Excel (must-have)
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English
  • Experience with end-to-end dashboard ownership (Power BI) or similar reporting tools
  • SQL and/or Python is an advantage
  • Affinity with data analytics, AI and modern data tooling
  • Understanding of financial and regulatory data environments
  • Understanding of international cash management and multicurrency cash pooling
  • Experience working with datasets at different levels of granularity
  • Experience with financial data modelling and reporting processes
  • Experience in automating reporting processes
  • Power BI (data modelling, DAX, visualisation)
  • Power Query (M) and data transformation logic, and understanding of relational data modelling
