Job Description

Team Red Dog is hiring a Data Analyst – AI Training Data & Azure Operations for our client, a global technology leader and AI-driven technology organization. This role supports an applied science team developing AI models for Windows and devices, with a focus on OCR (Optical Character Recognition) processing, Azure cloud storage, data quality assurance, and large-scale dataset management. You'll monitor data processing workflows, validate document and text datasets, maintain accurate metadata, and collaborate with engineers and applied scientists to ensure high-quality data is ready for AI model training. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with AI training data operations while contributing to innovative, next-generation technology.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves):

  1. Data Analysis & Quality Assurance – Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, data operations, data quality assurance, or dataset management, including validating data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity.
  2. Cloud Storage & File Management – Hands-on experience managing cloud-based files and datasets, including uploads, downloads, folder organization, file transfers, and troubleshooting. Experience with Microsoft Azure Storage is highly desirable.
  3. Document & Data Formats – Experience working with PDF, text, CSV, and JSON files, including reviewing data outputs, validating metadata, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining organized datasets.
  4. Workflow Monitoring & Issue Resolution – Experience using existing dashboards, processing tools, and logs to monitor workflows, investigate exceptions, document issues, and coordinate resolutions.

Opportunity Overview:

Join an applied science team at the forefront of AI innovation, where research, engineering, and production come together to develop intelligent models supporting Windows and devices. In this role, you'll help build and maintain the high-quality datasets essential to training AI models, gaining valuable exposure to AI data operations, OCR processing, and Azure cloud technologies. Working alongside engineers and applied scientists, you'll contribute to confidential, cutting-edge initiatives while strengthening your expertise in data quality, operational efficiency, and large-scale dataset management.

How you will make an impact:

  • Monitor existing OCR processing pipelines, tracking job status, completion rates, processing queues, and failed or stalled batches.
  • Review processing logs and reports, investigate exceptions, perform documented recovery procedures, and escalate technical issues to engineering teams.
  • Validate OCR-generated outputs against source documents, identifying missing pages, duplicate records, formatting errors, incomplete content, and other data quality issues.
  • Run established data cleaning and validation tools, review results, and document discrepancies requiring further investigation.
  • Maintain accurate dataset inventories, metadata, batch manifests, and version tracking to ensure data completeness and traceability.
  • Manage uploads, downloads, and transfers of source documents and generated datasets using Azure cloud storage.
  • Verify file transfer completion, reconcile file counts, investigate routine transfer issues, and maintain organized storage structures.
  • Prepare datasets for downstream AI model training, including delivery manifests, quality summaries, and documented exceptions.
  • Maintain operational dashboards and tracking reports covering processing progress, data quality, backlogs, and dataset readiness.
  • Collaborate with engineers, applied scientists, and data operations teams to resolve issues, coordinate reprocessing, and mitigate delivery risks.
  • Document standard operating procedures, track recurring issues, and recommend improvements to data handling and quality review processes.
  • Follow established data security, access control, retention, and confidentiality requirements.

The expertise you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, data operations, data quality assurance, or dataset management.
  • Practical experience managing files and datasets in cloud storage environments, including uploads, downloads, and file organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and metadata quality.
  • Experience monitoring workflows using existing dashboards, processing tools, logs, and operational reports.
  • Familiarity with common document and data formats, including PDF, text, CSV, and JSON.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies, maintain accurate records, and consistently execute repetitive validation tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise status updates and communicate technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills, documentation practices, and the ability to prioritize exceptions and follow issues through resolution.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Storage, Azure Storage Explorer, AzCopy, or comparable cloud file-transfer tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with OCR processing, document extraction, or AI training-data operations preferred.
  • Basic SQL skills for data querying, validation, and reconciliation preferred.
  • Basic Python knowledge for running existing scripts or making minor adjustments preferred; advanced programming skills are not required.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar operational reporting tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with dataset versioning, source traceability, access controls, and human-review workflows preferred.

What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:

A successful candidate combines hands-on data operations experience with exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to identify and anticipate potential data quality risks. Experience in a large enterprise technology environment, particularly Microsoft or another major technology company, is highly valuable, along with practical knowledge of Azure cloud storage and large-scale dataset management.

The strongest candidates communicate clearly and concisely, stay focused on priorities, and take ownership of issues through resolution. They are comfortable working with established tools and processes, consistently maintaining accurate records, identifying discrepancies, and collaborating with technical teams to ensure datasets meet quality standards. A proactive approach to risk mitigation, strong follow-through, and an interest in AI training-data operations will contribute significantly to success in this position.
