About the Role

At Capitec, we're building a bank that puts simplicity, innovation, and data-driven decision-making at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a Data Analyst II to join our Credit Risk team and play a key role in shaping credit granting decisions across multiple lending products.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates from Financial Advisory, Risk Advisory, Quantitative Analytics, Actuarial Consulting, Data Science, Decision Science, and Credit Risk Analytics backgrounds, particularly those who have developed their careers within leading consulting firms and are looking to apply their expertise within one of South Africa's most innovative banks

Why this role?

You will work closely with Credit Risk Owners and Decision Science teams to support and enhance application credit granting strategies. The role offers exposure to a broad range of credit products, analytical modelling, scorecard development, and model validation while influencing critical lending decisions that impact both business performance and client outcomes.

What you'll be doing

• Partner with the Application Credit Risk team to support credit granting strategies across multiple lending products.
• Translate complex data into actionable insights that improve credit decisioning.
• Contribute to model development, analytical modelling support, and model validation activities.
• Assist in the development, enhancement, and monitoring of application scorecards and decisioning inputs.
• Collaborate with Decision Science teams to improve lending performance and risk outcomes.
• Apply knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as IFRS 9 and Basel when interpreting model outputs and supporting risk strategies.
• Continuously identify opportunities to refine processes and strengthen risk management practices.

We're looking for

We are particularly interested in professionals with experience in:

• Credit Risk Analytics across the credit lifecycle.
• Application and/or behavioural scorecards.
• Secured and/or unsecured lending portfolios.
• Decision Science, Data Science, Quantitative Analytics, or Risk Analytics.
• Model development, validation, and performance monitoring.
• Banking, financial services, or risk-focused consulting environments.
• Translating analytical findings into practical business decisions.

Candidates from the following backgrounds are encouraged to apply:

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years' experience in Data Analytics, Credit Risk Analytics, Lending, Financial Services, or a related field.
• Experience supporting analytical model development and/or validation.
• Experience working with credit decisioning, risk strategies, or scorecards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders

Technical Skills

• SAS
• SQL
• Advanced Excel

Python (advantageous

Nice to have

• Experience building application scorecards.
• Exposure to provisioning methodologies.
• Understanding of ROE-related modelling.
• Exposure to AWS.
• Knowledge of IFRS 9 and Basel frameworks.
• FRM qualification (advantageous).

• Bachelor's Degree in Analytical/Data/Technical or Other
