Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

What You’ll Do
The Data Analyst plays a key role in enabling data‑driven decision‑making by transforming complex, structured and unstructured data into clear, actionable insights. This role delivers end‑to‑end analysis, applies robust statistical and analytical techniques, and communicates findings to inform operational, tactical and strategic outcomes.
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Analyse data end‑to‑end to extract insights to inform SPO reporting requirements, ensuring data quality, integrity and fit‑for‑purpose use.
Develop and apply analytical and data science techniques to model, predict and evaluate trends and outcomes in product data.
Visualise and communicate insights through clear narratives, dashboards and reports to support decision-making, incorporating best practice across SPO’s and customising to leadership requirements.
Deliver business intelligence products that meet stakeholder needs and contribute to improved analytics practices and standards across SPO functions.
What You’ll Bring
This role requires a well-rounded data professional with strong capabilities across analytics, data science, machine learning, and business intelligence. The focus is on translating complex data into actionable insights, supporting decision-making, and delivering scalable data solutions. Success in the role depends on strong technical capability combined with clear communication and stakeholder engagement.
Data Analytics: End-to-end analysis of structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and translating insights into clear, actionable outcomes.
Data Science: Use of predictive modelling and data science methods to analyse data, improve model performance, and generate business value.
Data Visualisation: Design and delivery of clear, engaging visual outputs, with the ability to build narratives that support decision-making.
Business Intelligence: Development of reports and dashboards, ensuring data accuracy and delivering insights aligned to stakeholder needs.
Machine Learning & Data Modelling: Building, training, and maintaining models and data structures to support business processes and enable scalable, reliable solutions.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
