Class 3 Driver/Picker
Location: 8 Moore Road, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting To: Route Supervisor
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am Start
Compensation $24.18 per hour

The Class 3 Driver/Picker is responsible for operating various waste collection vehicles to pick up recycling, garbage, paper/cardboard, and organics from both residential and commercial customers. The role involves providing dependable customer service, safely transporting collected materials to transfer stations or disposal sites, and following established routes, schedules, and regulations.

Responsibilities:
As a Class 3 Driver/Picker, your duties will include but are not limited to:
• Complete various waste stream collection from residential and commercial customers.
• Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service as the proper disposal of the waste streams are vital to the health and well-being of the residents of the community that you are servicing.
• Collect and transport the various waste streams to local transfer stations, compost facilities or landfill sites in an efficient and appropriate manner.
• Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule while following all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, Department of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working.

Competencies & Qualifications:
• Ability to adhere to Miller Waste Systems safety protocols and must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Valid and clean Class 3 or higher driver’s license, A Class 3 license and an air brake endorsement are assets.
• Must be a team player and proven safe working habits.
• Previous driving experience is a requirement.
• Excellent attendance record is a must.
• Excellent interpersonal skills along with written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility with your work schedule is a must as start and end times may vary.
• A physically fit lifestyle would be a benefit and previous waste industry experience would be considered an asset. The ability to push, pull, and lift heavy bins repetitively is required.
• Must be available to work Saturdays when required as well as to help with the residential collection process from time-to-time by working on a collection truck.
