Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a truck safely and responsibly on local routes within Walvis Bay and surrounding areas
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness
  • Load, secure, and offload cargo in accordance with safety standards
  • Adhere strictly to designated routes and delivery schedules
  • Maintain accurate trip records, delivery documentation, and logbooks
  • Report any vehicle faults, incidents, or delays promptly to management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable road traffic laws and company policies
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned vehicle
  • Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of goods
  • Obtain proof of delivery and required signatures upon completion of deliveries
  • Communicate proactively with dispatch/control regarding delays, breakdowns, or route changes
  • Ensure cargo is transported securely to prevent damage or loss in transit
  • Comply with all applicable weight limits and loading regulations
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting of minor vehicle issues where possible
  • Ensure fuel levels, tyre pressure, and fluid levels are checked and maintained regularly
  • Report for duty punctually and adhere to assigned shift schedules
  • Conduct all duties with due regard for road safety and the safety of other road users
  • Immediately report any accidents, near-misses, or safety concerns to management

Mandatory Requirements

  • Valid CE Driver's License
  • Needs to have special requirement for driving dangerous goods
  • Local driving only – no cross-border driving required
  • No night driving required – daytime routes only
  • One (1) driver will be assigned per truck
  • Based in Walvis Bay
  • Sound knowledge of the rules of the road and traffic regulations
  • Proven safe driving record
  • Clean criminal record
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate required
