As a Dance Coach, you'll have the opportunity to share your passion for dance while creating meaningful experiences for participants of all ages and abilities. You'll lead engaging classes, teach and choreograph routines, build relationships, and help participants feel confident and connected.
What You Can Expect
No two classes are exactly alike. You will:
- Lead fun, energetic, safe, and educational dance classes.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Develop lesson plans that help participants progress according to their age and ability.
- Modify activities and instruction to meet the needs of individual participants.
- Help plan and develop choreography for recitals.
- Build positive relationships with participants, parents, and families.
- Encourage participants and celebrate their accomplishments and progress.
- Bring energy and enthusiasm to every class.
- Communicate with parents and guardians about participant progress when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and help support class retention and growth.
- Complete daily equipment checks and cleaning tasks.
- Participate in staff meetings, required training, special events, and YMCA activities.
- Promote other YMCA programs and help support the YMCA's mission and community initiatives.

Qualifications
- Passion for dance and working with others.
- Ability to lead engaging and age-appropriate dance instruction.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with participants and families.
- Ability to create an inclusive environment for individuals of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
- Willingness to complete required YMCA training, certifications, and staff meetings.
- Previous dance instruction, coaching, performance, or related experience is preferred.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age 15 required.
- Must have 12 months’ experience in participating in dance training, with prior experience teaching dance lessons preferred.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Leader Orientation.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Must have a passion for learning, working with youth/families, and the sport in general.
