Job Description

Position Title: Dam safety Specialist [National Expert]

Key Qualifications / Requirements:

He/she should have a degree in civil engineering and have at least experience of 15 years’ experience in dealing with construction supervision and quality assurance, safety evaluation, preparation of guidelines/manuals, design experience, past member of any expert committee constituted for any dam linked disaster/failure/distress, dam safety inspections and remedial measures etc. He/she should have worked in at least 5 large dam projects.

  • Serve as the Nodal Expert for reviewing dam safety aspects across all project activities.
  • Conduct Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance (CS&QA) visits and prepare official transmittals for onward submission.
  • Perform dam safety inspections and provide expert opinions to address safety concerns.
  • Review and assess overall rehabilitation plans of DRIP dams, including construction quality, quality control systems, and quality assurance measures.
  • Design and deliver customized training modules/lectures for training Implementing Agencies (IAs).
  • Contribute professionally to the update or preparation of dam safety guidelines/manuals, including relevant chapters or sections.
  • Participate as a domain expert in the DHARMA (Dam Health and Rehabilitation Monitoring Application) updating team.
  • Provide technical inputs for the development of the MIS system and the official website for project activities.
  • Facilitate Training of Trainers (TOT) programs for capacity building of DRIP IAs.
  • Assist in the development of the annual training program calendar and serve as a faculty member for training sessions.
  • Expedite and ensure compliance with any urgent dam safety matters assigned by the Project Director, DRIP.
  • Participate in official annual dam safety conferences, workshops, and training programs.
