Job Description


This is a Merit Hire position. Hourly Rate: $19.37 per hour. Dauphin County Drug & Alcohol Services is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Administrative Assistant 1. The D&A Administrative Assistant 1 performs various administrative and clerical functions that may be confidential in nature to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Agency. He/she assists the County D&A Administrator in carrying out the operations of the Agency, and performs occasional liaison responsibilities among community organizations, other private and public agencies, and the general public.

The D&A Administrative Assistant 1 supervises the Clerk Typist 2 and Clerk Typist 3. He/she completes assignments with considerable initiative and independence.


The D&A Administrative Assistant 1 reports directly to the D&A SCA Administrator 2.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:

  • Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university.

  • or any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education, working in an office environment.

Other Requirements:

At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
