Job Description – D365 SCM Functional Consultant

Role Overview: The Associate D365 Supply Chain Management Consultant will provide functional application support within a Managed Services engagement. The role focuses on resolving incidents and service requests, supporting minor enhancements, maintaining functional documentation, and contributing to stable day-to-day operations across the D365 Finance and Operations landscape. The ideal candidate will have 4–5 years of relevant experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and will work under the guidance of senior functional and technical team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 functional support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, primarily across Supply Chain Management modules.
• Handle incidents, service requests, problems, and changes in line with agreed service levels, priorities, and support procedures.
• Investigate functional issues, reproduce reported problems, perform initial root-cause analysis, and escalate complex matters with clear supporting information.
• Configure and support relevant SCM capabilities such as product information management, procurement and sourcing, sales order processing, inventory management, warehouse management, master planning, manufacturing, quality management, transportation management, landed cost, and asset management, based on project scope.
• Engage with business users to clarify issues and requirements, document findings, and provide timely ticket updates.
• Support minor enhancements by gathering requirements, preparing fit-gap notes and functional specifications, and assisting with estimation under senior consultant guidance.
• Execute functional, regression, integration, and user-acceptance testing for fixes and enhancements; maintain test evidence and support business validation.
• Support release activities using Lifecycle Services and Azure DevOps, including work-item updates, deployment validation, and post-release checks.
• Assist with troubleshooting D365 integrations, data entities, batch jobs, workflows, and downstream dependencies in collaboration with technical teams.
• Identify recurring issues, contribute to problem records, and recommend practical improvements to reduce ticket volumes and improve service quality.
• Create and maintain support documentation, configuration records, standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, and user guides.
• Participate in knowledge-transfer sessions, service reviews, daily support calls, and transition-to-support or hypercare activities as required.
• Collaborate with onsite and offshore teams and provide support during agreed business hours, including planned out-of-hours release or on-call coverage when required.

Required Experience and Skills

• 4–6 years of relevant functional experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, including production support, Managed Services, or post-go-live support.
• Hands-on knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes, with practical experience in at least two areas such as procurement and sourcing, product information management, inventory management, sales order processing, warehouse management, master planning, manufacturing, quality management, transportation management, landed cost, or asset management.
• Experience handling production incidents and service requests, performing issue analysis, documenting findings, and coordinating resolutions with functional and technical teams.
• Working knowledge of incident, problem, change, release, and service-request management in an SLA-driven support environment.
• Experience gathering business requirements, preparing functional documentation, completing basic fit-gap analysis, and supporting minor enhancements.
• Practical understanding of D365 data entities, batch processing, workflows, integrations, role-based security, and data troubleshooting.
• Working experience with Lifecycle Services and Azure DevOps for ticket or work-item tracking, test coordination, documentation, and release support.
• Hands-on testing experience covering functional, regression, integration, and user-acceptance testing; exposure to RSAT is advantageous.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business users and delivery teams.
• Ability to manage assigned tickets and tasks independently, seek guidance when required, and collaborate across onsite and offshore teams.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Willingness to provide planned out-of-hours or on-call support when required by the engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate, or progress toward this certification.
• ITIL Foundation certification or practical experience working in an ITIL-aligned service environment.
• Experience supporting shared services, global delivery, or onsite-offshore operating models.
• Exposure to Power Platform, Power BI, D365 Copilot capabilities, Finance and Operations technical architecture, or relevant Azure services.
• Exposure to service transition, operational readiness, knowledge transfer, or post-go-live hypercare activities.
