D365 HCM Functional Sr. Consultant - Assistant Manager

The Opportunity

As a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Capital Management (HCM) Senior Consultant within KPMG’s Managed Services practice, you will provide functional support, solution guidance, and continuous improvement across enterprise Dynamics 365 Human Resources solutions. You will work closely with HR process owners, business users, technical teams, and third-party providers to resolve incidents, deliver enhancements, support releases, and improve adoption. The role requires strong HCM domain knowledge, hands-on configuration experience, and the ability to translate business requirements into sustainable functional solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Support & Client Collaboration

• Provide end-to-end functional support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources/HCM within a Managed Services environment.
• Act as a senior functional point of contact for HR process owners and business users, providing clear guidance and timely issue resolution.
• Manage assigned incidents, service requests, problems, changes, and minor enhancements in line with agreed SLAs and quality standards.
• Analyze complex functional issues, identify root causes, recommend solutions, and document preventive actions.
• Facilitate requirement-gathering workshops, assess business needs, prepare functional designs, and support solution validation.
• Configure and test HCM features, workflows, security roles, data entities, and integrations in accordance with approved designs.
• Coordinate with technical, integration, reporting, security, infrastructure, and third-party teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Support user acceptance testing, regression testing, release readiness, deployment activities, and post-release stabilization.
• Maintain functional specifications, configuration workbooks, operating procedures, knowledge articles, and support playbooks.
• Mentor junior consultants, review functional deliverables, share knowledge, and contribute to consistent service quality.

Application Governance, Release & Risk Support

• Provide functional guidance for HCM process changes and enhancements, ensuring alignment with product standards, approved architecture, controls, and supportability.
• Support Microsoft One Version updates through impact assessment, regression testing, deployment readiness, business communication, and stabilization.
• Support role-based security, user-access reviews, segregation-of-duties controls, audit requests, and remediation tracking.
• Participate in backlog refinement and change-prioritization discussions, providing estimates, dependencies, risks, and solution recommendations.
• Contribute to knowledge management, root-cause elimination, process standardization, automation, and measurable service improvement.
• Support integrations with Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, Azure services, payroll providers, recruitment platforms, and other third-party applications.

Senior Consultant Scope

• Independently own complex functional work items from analysis through deployment while collaborating effectively within blended onshore, nearshore, and offshore teams.
• Build trusted relationships with HR, IT, security, and business stakeholders and communicate solution options, risks, and recommendations clearly.
• Guide junior team members, perform peer reviews, and contribute to estimation, planning, and quality assurance without direct people-management accountability.

D365 Functional Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources/HCM implementation, support, or transformation engagements in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end Human Capital Management processes, including:

• Significant experience delivering Application Management Services, production support, or post-go-live services for enterprise HCM applications.
• Practical knowledge of incident, request, problem, change, release, knowledge, and enhancement-management processes.
• Experience using IT service-management platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira for ticket management, reporting, trend analysis, and SLA tracking.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies, and risks while delivering accurate and timely outcomes.
• Proven ability to drive root-cause resolution, preventive actions, service automation, documentation quality, and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of ITIL processes including:
• Incident Management
• Problem Management
• Change Management
• Knowledge Management
• Service Request Management

Technical & Integration Knowledge

• Experience with D365 integrations, Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure services.

Understanding security administration, workflows, batch jobs, monitoring, and environment management.

• Experience supporting data migration, data quality assessments, and reconciliation activities.
• Knowledge of One Version Release Management and Microsoft update testing practices.

Leadership, Collaboration & Communication

• Demonstrated ability to lead functional workstreams, mentor junior consultants, review deliverables, and collaborate across geographically distributed teams.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, manage expectations, facilitate workshops, and communicate difficult messages constructively.
• Excellent analytical, commercial, decision-making, facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex HR, technical, and operational topics into clear functional designs and recommendations for business and technology audiences.

Ideally, You'll Also Have

• Experience supporting Dynamics 365 Human Resources/HCM for large, global, multi-entity organizations.
• Experience using Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, and Copilot capabilities to improve HCM reporting, workflow automation, user productivity, and service operations.
• Experience supporting HR processes across multiple legal entities, regions, countries, regulatory environments, and payroll providers.
• Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, or solution-architecture credentials; ITIL certification is preferred.
• Experience contributing to service transitions, effort estimates, support operating procedures, and continuous-improvement roadmaps within an SLA/KPI-based Managed Services framework.
