D365 FIN Functional Sr. Consultant - Assistant Manager

The Opportunity

As a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Senior Consultant within KPMG’s Managed Services practice, you will provide functional support, solution expertise, and continuous improvement across enterprise D365 Finance applications. You will work closely with client process owners, business users, and technical teams to resolve incidents, fulfil service requests, deliver enhancements, support releases, and improve financial processes. The role requires strong hands-on D365 Finance capability, disciplined service delivery, clear stakeholder communication, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, supportable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Functional Support & Client Collaboration

• Provide end-to-end functional support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance within a Managed Services environment, ensuring stable operations and timely resolution of business issues.
• Act as a senior functional point of contact for Finance process owners, key users, and delivery teams, providing clear recommendations and practical solutions.
• Deliver assigned incidents, service requests, problems, changes, and minor enhancements in line with agreed SLAs, quality standards, and delivery priorities.
• Investigate complex functional issues, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Contribute to service reviews by providing accurate updates on issue status, recurring trends, risks, backlog, and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with technical, integration, infrastructure, security, and third-party teams to diagnose issues and deliver cohesive Finance solutions.
• Manage assigned workload and priorities, communicate dependencies and risks early, and support effective handoffs across onshore and offshore teams.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across financial processes, controls, automation, reporting, system stability, and user experience.
• Review functional deliverables, share knowledge, mentor junior consultants, and contribute to support playbooks and reusable solution assets.
• Support solution shaping, effort estimation, service transition, and enhancement planning by providing Finance functional input.

D365 Finance Support

Provide functional support and enhancement services across:

• General Ledger
• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Fixed Assets
• Budgeting and Forecasting
• Cost Accounting
• Project Accounting
• Expense Management
• Financial Reporting and Period Close

Application Governance, Solution Quality & Risk Management

• Translate Finance business requirements into functional designs and configuration changes aligned with D365 standards, enterprise controls, and supportability objectives.
• Support Microsoft One Version release activities, including impact assessment, regression testing, deployment readiness, user communication, and post-release validation.
• Support role-based security, user-access reviews, segregation-of-duties controls, audit evidence, compliance activities, and remediation tracking.
• Participate in backlog refinement and change-prioritization discussions, providing estimates, dependencies, risks, and solution options.
• Maintain functional specifications, configuration records, test evidence, operating procedures, knowledge articles, and support documentation.
• Provide functional support for integrations with Microsoft Power Platform, Azure services, banking platforms, tax solutions, expense systems, and other third-party applications.

Role Scope

• Work within blended onshore, nearshore, and offshore teams, taking ownership of assigned deliverables and supporting consistent quality and knowledge transfer.
• Build effective relationships with Finance, IT, audit, and risk stakeholders and translate business priorities into actionable support and enhancement outcomes.
• Proactively manage delivery risks and dependencies while maintaining a strong focus on client satisfaction, solution quality, and sustainable outcomes.

Skills and Attributes for Success

D365 Functional Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance across implementation, support, enhancement, or transformation engagements in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep understanding of Finance business processes, including:
• Record to Report (R2R)
• Procure to Pay (P2P)
• Order to Cash (O2C)
• Project to Profit (P2P)
• Expense Management

Managed Services & Delivery Experience

• Proven experience delivering Application Management Services (AMS), Managed Services, production support, or enterprise application operations for D365 Finance.
• Practical experience managing incidents, requests, problems, changes, releases, and enhancements, including participation in major-incident resolution and escalation.
• Experience using IT service-management platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira for ticket management, reporting, trend analysis, and SLA tracking.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, estimates, risks, and dependencies while meeting delivery commitments and quality expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to drive root cause elimination, preventive controls, support automation, knowledge maturity, and measurable service improvements.
• Understanding of ITIL processes including:
• Incident Management
• Problem Management

• Service Request Management

Technical & Integration Knowledge

• Experience with D365 integrations, Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure services.

Understanding security administration, workflows, batch jobs, monitoring, and environment management.

• Experience supporting data migration, data quality assessments, and reconciliation activities.
• Knowledge of One Version Release Management and Microsoft update testing practices.

Collaboration & Communication

• Experience working effectively in multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams, reviewing deliverables, mentoring junior resources, and supporting quality assurance.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, manage expectations, explain solution trade-offs, and communicate issues constructively.
• Excellent analytical, commercial, decision-making, facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex financial, functional, technical, and operational topics into clear recommendations for business and technology audiences.

Ideally, You'll Also Have

• Experience supporting D365 Finance for large, global, multi-entity organizations.
• Experience using Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and D365 Copilot/Agent capabilities to improve reporting, workflow automation, user productivity, and service operations.
• Experience managing service delivery across multiple legal entities, regions, countries, regulatory environments, and business-process owners.
• Relevant Microsoft credentials, such as Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate; ITIL Foundation certification is preferred.
• Experience contributing to service transitions, operating procedures, estimates, backlog planning, and continuous improvement roadmaps within an SLA/KPI-based Managed Services framework.
