Job Description

PathGroup is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible AP/CP Pathologist with fellowship training or expertise in Cytopathology to join our established practice in beautiful Brunswick, Georgia.

This position offers a unique combination of non-gynecologic cytopathology, general surgical pathology, outstanding subspecialty support, light call, and an exceptional coastal lifestyle. Practice Highlights

  • Case mix of approximately 6-12 non-gynecologic cytology cases and 10-15 surgical pathology cases per day, with caseload balanced for manageability
  • Cytology includes bronchoscopy, thyroid, urine, and other non-GYN specimens, with no Pap smear or gynecologic cytology responsibilities
  • Surgical pathology consists primarily of GI, breast, gynecologic, and other outpatient biopsies, with occasional colon and breast resection specimens; specimen types are tailored to individual capabilities/interests
  • Primarily outpatient practice with occasional coverage at the local hospital, located just 10-15 minutes from the laboratory
  • Participate in Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) and frozen section interpretation during occasional hospital coverage
  • Dedicated staff prepare ROSE slides and assist with cutting in of frozen sections, allowing the pathologist to focus on diagnosis
  • All routine grossing is performed by experienced Pathologists' Assistants (PAs)
  • Extensive subspecialty support, including dedicated Hematopathology and GU Pathology teams, with consultative coverage across all major organ systems
  • Home call is approximately every six weeks, primarily remote, with being called into the hospital occurring only about once per year

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)
  • Fellowship training in Cytopathology or significant experience in Cytopathology
  • Eligible for unrestricted Georgia medical licensure
  • Excellent diagnostic, communication, and collaborative practice skills
