Position Summary:
The responsibility of the Cytology Lab Processor is to provide general assistance to technologists/technicians and pathologists to ensure smooth workflow of the entire department. Responsibilities may include obtaining information from various departments, processing and/or accessioning different types of specimens and providing administrative & organizational support to the department. Due to various environmental hazards presented in the workplace such as formalin, communicable disease, fresh human tissue, etc., employees must adhere to HIPAA standards and strict Standard Operating Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Position Schedule: Monday - Friday, either a 7:30pm or 8:00pm start
Essential Duties:
A Cytology Lab Processor may perform any of the following duties or groups of duties:
- Order, process and stain gynecological specimens
- Load/Unload Duo Imager
- Order, process, stain and provide a gross description for the majority of non-gynecological specimens
- Manifest and distribute slides and specimens appropriately to cytotechnologists & pathologists
- Maintain and troubleshoot complex issues regarding staining and processing equipment
- Aliquot specimens for ancillary testing
- Reagent preparation
- Utilize company's internal software applications
- Restock supplies as needed
- Hazardous waste control
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/
Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma
- Associates or Bachelors degree with emphasis in biology/chemistry/anatomy preferred
- 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred
- Experience in Cytology preferred
- Basic computer program & application skills
- Customer service experience.
- Excellent verbal and written skills
