We are seeking a proactive Cyclic Operator to join our team and deliver cyclic and first response maintenance on the state highway network for the IDC contract with NZTA in the Manawatu-Whanganui region. Utilising a range of machinery and equipment, you will carry out daily inspections, execute operational tasks, and contribute to minor maintenance repairs that keep our roads safe and functioning. This position is based from Dannevirke.
Your duties will include essential road repairs such as road sign and EMP maintenance and replacements, pothole fixes, upkeep of minor barriers, detritus removal, litter, and other varied maintenance activities, providing plenty of variety in your work and assisting with emergency responses. In this role, your technical expertise and proactive approach will help maintain vital infrastructure, ensuring our communities stay connected and safe.
In addition to the above you will:
Operate cyclic machinery in accordance with safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
Monitor machine performance and cycles, promptly reporting malfunctions or abnormalities
Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal operation
Attend emergency call outs on a rostered basis and during standard hours of duty which can include both day and night shifts

We’re looking for someone with:
Full Class 2 driver’s licence
Prior experience in cyclic work and traffic services maintenance
Demonstrated experience in operating cyclic tools, equipment and machinery
Strong mechanical aptitude with effective problem-solving skills
Physically fit and capable, with the ability to manage the manual labour requirements of the role
STMS (Site Traffic Management Supervisor) qualification preferred, but not essential
Willingness and flexibility to respond to after-hours callouts on a rostered basis
Excellent communication skills, displaying a positive and proactive attitude
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, displaying motivation and pride in workmanship
