ANSER values collaboration, integrity, and initiative and we are client focused in all that we do. Are you a Cybersecurity Analyst or Specialist interested in supporting national defense and security missions—but don’t see a current opening at ANSER that fits your background?

We’d still like to connect with you.

At ANSER, we’re always looking for cleared cybersecurity professionals with the technical expertise and mission focus to help defend critical systems and infrastructure. If you're passionate about protecting sensitive data, ensuring system resilience, and staying ahead of emerging cyber threats, we encourage you to submit your resume for future opportunities.

About Cybersecurity at ANSER

As a Cybersecurity Specialist at ANSER, you’ll help secure mission-critical systems that support U.S. national security and defense operations. You’ll work hands-on with engineering teams, program managers, and government stakeholders to assess risk, implement protections, and ensure compliance in highly regulated and secure environments.

Most roles are on-site in Northern Virginia or the greater Washington, D.C. area, supporting programs within classified settings. Due to mission needs and facility requirements, remote and hybrid options are generally not available

What You’ll Typically Do:

  • Provide guidance related to cybersecurity capabilities, requirements, processes and policies.
  • Provide guidance for and/or conduct cybersecurity assessments and support implementation of cybersecurity controls across classified and sensitive systems.
  • Support system authorization efforts under frameworks such as the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Perform vulnerability scans, analyze results, and assist with mitigation planning.
  • Monitor security tools and logs to identify potential threats or anomalous activity.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure cybersecurity is embedded throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, and security assessment reports.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and readiness reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.

Qualifications We Look For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in a cybersecurity role, ideally supporting DoD or federal government programs.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800-53, RMF, FISMA, or DoD cybersecurity policy
  • Experience with or understanding of cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, Nessus, Splunk, or endpoint protection platforms.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, CEH, CISSP, or CAP are a strong plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance or higher is required for most positions with some positions requiring Secret or Top Secret clearances

If you’re looking to make a real impact while advancing your cybersecurity career in a cleared environment, we’d love to stay in touch. Submit your resume, and we’ll keep your information on file for future roles that match your skills, experience, and clearance level.

Today ANSER is a public service research institute organized as not-for-profit corporation dedicated to informing decisions that shape the nation’s future. We provide objective studies and analyses to the national security, homeland security, and public policy communities using a diverse set of capabilities that include Analysis of Alternatives, Acquisition Analysis, Workforce Analysis, Performance Measurement, Policy Formulation, Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction and Risk Assessment. ANSER also builds and leads technology development collaborations through its subsidiary, Advanced Technology International (ATI), specializing in organizing and managing research and development consortia on behalf of the federal government.
