V2X is growing! We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Systems Security Engineer with a BS or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline. This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in system security engineering, real‑time embedded operating systems and processors, embedded system testing, secure processing, high‑performance computing (HPC), Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), High Assurance Secure Computing (HASC), Anti‑Tamper (AT) technologies for DoD weapons systems. The role involves designing, securing, testing, and advancing mission‑critical defense technologies to ensure resilience, compliance, and operational superiority.
Key Responsibilities
- System security engineering Architect and implement secure system designs across real‑time embedded platforms and weapons systems, applying advanced principles of hardware/software security.
- Real‑time embedded systems expertise Develop, optimize, and secure real‑time embedded operating systems (RTOS, Linux variants) and processor‑level solutions (ARM, PowerPC, x86).
- Embedded system testing Design and execute rigorous test plans for real‑time embedded platforms, including functional, performance, and security validation of processors and operating systems.
- Secure processing & HPC Lead initiatives in secure processor design, trusted execution environments, and high‑performance computing architectures for defense applications.
- Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Apply deep knowledge of CDS technologies to enable secure information sharing across classified and unclassified domains, ensuring compliance with DoD and intelligence community standards.
- High Assurance Secure Computing (HASC) Engineer systems with provable security properties, leveraging formal methods, trusted hardware, and high‑assurance architectures to meet the most stringent DoD and intelligence community requirements.
- Anti‑Tamper (AT) technologies Implement and evaluate AT techniques to protect critical defense systems against reverse engineering, exploitation, and unauthorized access.
- Weapons systems integration Provide technical leadership in the secure design, testing, and sustainment of DoD weapons systems, ensuring compliance with MIL‑STD specifications.
- Security compliance Ensure adherence to DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST standards, and system security certification requirements.
- Threat analysis Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk modeling for real‑time embedded and defense systems.
- Research and innovation Drive R&D in emerging processor technologies, secure boot processes, trusted computing, CDS, HASC, AT, and HPC applications in defense.
- Collaboration Work closely with program managers, hardware/software engineers, and military stakeholders to deliver secure, mission‑ready solutions.
- Mentorship Guide junior engineers and contribute to knowledge transfer within the organization.
This engineer will directly contribute to the security, reliability, and effectiveness of U.S. defense systems, ensuring that real‑time embedded technologies are engineered, tested, and validated with resilience, integrity, and mission assurance at their core. They will be viewed as an expert in secure processing, high‑performance computing, Cross Domain Solutions, High Assurance Secure Computing, Anti‑Tamper technologies, and classified encryption standards, shaping the future of defense technology.
Required Skills:
- Experience 20+ years of engineering experience in system security engineering, real‑time embedded systems, and defense technologies.
- Technical expertise Deep knowledge of real‑time embedded operating systems, processor architectures, secure system design practices, embedded system testing methodologies, secure processing, HPC, CDS, High Assurance Secure Computing, and Anti‑Tamper technologies.
- DoD systems knowledge Proven experience with DoD weapons systems, MIL‑STD specifications, and secure communications protocols.
- Real‑time embedded system testing frameworks Experience with automated test environments, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing, and simulation tools.
- Cross Domain Solutions expertise Familiarity with CDS architectures, guard technologies, and accreditation processes.
- High Assurance Secure Computing expertise Experience with formal verification, trusted execution environments, and high‑assurance operating systems.
- Anti‑Tamper expertise Knowledge of AT design, implementation, and evaluation techniques to protect sensitive defense technologies.
- Post-Quantum Cryptography: Understanding of and experience with integrating PQC
- End-to-End Security Architecture: Architect secure boot flows, cryptographic engines, and root-of-trust (RoT)

- OEM Engagement: Experience working with system OEMs and collaborating across technologies.

- NSA CSfC Program understanding Knowledge of the NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Program, including layered solution architectures and compliance requirements.
- Type 1 encryption requirements Familiarity with NSA Type 1 encryption standards, devices, and certification processes for classified communications.
- Certification TOGAF certification required, demonstrating expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks and alignment of system security engineering with organizational strategy.
