The Adoption, Innovation, and Transformation team within OpenAI for Government helps government organizations turn OpenAI products into durable capabilities and measurable mission impact.

We work alongside public servants to move from initial exploration to confident, responsible, organization-wide use of AI. Our work combines hands-on enablement, adoption strategy, deployment support, community, content, and practical transformation tailored to government missions and operating environments.

About the Role

We are seeking a Cyber Enablement Lead to join our Training and Enablement team and help government cyber professionals turn Daybreak’s capabilities into stronger defenses and measurable mission outcomes. This is a priority hire, and we are looking for someone who can join as soon as possible.

You will own Daybreak’s product enablement strategy and personally design, execute, and lead the training that brings it to life. Your work will span audience research, curriculum design, script writing, recorded demonstrations and courses, hands-on workshops, executive briefings, and our cyber councils.

You will work with Authorizing Officials (AOs), CISOs, cyber operators, developers, and senior executives, adapting the depth and format to each audience. Practitioners need practical proficiency; executives need a strategic understanding of our cyber products, their value, and their implications for mission and risk. Success means demonstrated capability, sustained adoption, and better cyber outcomes.

This role is based in Washington, D.C. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Travel and regular work from government customer sites are required.

In this role, you will:

• Own the end-to-end Daybreak enablement strategy: identify audience needs, define learning objectives, build curricula, deliver programs, and measure operational impact.
• Personally lead technical training, live demonstrations, workshops, and conversations with AOs, CISOs, cyber operators, and developers.
• Write scripts and record product demos and training. Create interactive labs, digital courses, videos, facilitator materials, and practical playbooks that make complex capabilities accessible and immediately useful.
• Host and facilitate our cyber councils, creating engaging discussions, drawing out questions, and helping participants learn from one another.
• Build bespoke, hands-on engagements for small specialist teams and scalable learning programs that reach thousands of practitioners.
• Connect Daybreak’s capabilities, applications, and deployment requirements to real government cyber workflows across the cybersecurity lifecycle.
• Partner closely with product, security, deployment, and customer teams to keep enablement technically accurate, responsive to feedback, and current as products and requirements evolve.
• Assess demonstrated proficiency, track adoption and sustained use, and improve programs based on learning evidence and measurable cyber and mission outcomes.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Bring deep knowledge of the cybersecurity lifecycle, including threat modeling, vulnerability discovery and validation, prioritization, remediation, detection, incident response, and recovery.
• Have comprehensive fluency in Daybreak’s capabilities, applications, and deployment requirements, and can translate that knowledge into useful government cyber training.
• Have a proven record of personally building and delivering cybersecurity product enablement, from specialist-team engagements to scaled programs for thousands of practitioners.
• Are a strong writer, educator, and content creator who can develop clear scripts, record compelling demos and training, and design practical labs and learning experiences.
• Can earn credibility with technical practitioners and senior leaders, explain complex capabilities accurately, and adjust your language, examples, and level of detail to the audience.
• Combine high emotional intelligence and an engaging teaching presence with humility and empathy. You listen carefully, welcome questions, acknowledge what you do not know, and make people comfortable learning.
• Understand government cyber missions, security requirements, and operational constraints, ideally across DOW, federal civilian agencies, and state and local government.
• Can lead cross-functional work from strategy through execution, incorporate feedback, and connect enablement to demonstrated proficiency, sustained product use, and stronger defenses.
