Cyber Defence Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Cyber Defence Engineer to strengthen its Cyber Defence team. In this role, you will play a key part in protecting critical IT systems by improving cyber resilience, identifying security risks, and driving remediation initiatives across a complex enterprise environment.

You will act as a trusted security advisor, working closely with security, infrastructure, engineering, and operations teams to enhance security capabilities, support incident response, and implement continuous improvements to the organization's cyber defence strategy.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide expert technical cyber security guidance to IT and security teams.

* Collaborate with Security Operations teams to support incident response, threat analysis, and continuous security improvements.

* Build relationships with internal and external security professionals to share knowledge and best practices.

* Perform in-depth security assessments of infrastructure and identify opportunities to improve cyber resilience.

* Lead and enhance Vulnerability Management and Exposure Management processes.

* Conduct continuous attack surface assessments and contribute to Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) initiatives.

* Identify, analyse, prioritize, and monitor vulnerabilities and cyber security risks.

* Work closely with engineering and infrastructure teams to coordinate remediation activities and track progress.

* Monitor developments in AI-related security threats and recommend improvements to strengthen cyber defences.

* Provide technical expertise on Azure Security, Windows Server, and Linux security.

* Support the implementation of security improvements across cloud and on-premise environments.

* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of cyber defence processes and security controls.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree (HBO/BSc) in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

* Minimum of 5 years' professional experience in Cyber Security, Cyber Defence, or Security Operations.

* Strong understanding of enterprise cyber security principles and best practices.

* Experience with Vulnerability Management and Exposure Management.

* Experience assessing and securing Windows and Linux server environments.

* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Security.

* Experience working within complex enterprise IT environments.

* Excellent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

* Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CSX, or equivalent.

* Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions.

* Experience with SIEM platforms.

* Experience securing cloud environments.

* Knowledge of Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM).

* Knowledge of Attack Surface Management methodologies and tools.

* Understanding of AI-related cyber security risks and emerging threats.

* Experience collaborating with Security Operations Centres (SOC).

* Background in system administration, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering.

* Dutch language skills are considered an advantage.
