Rotating shifts, days - 11.5 hours/night 14.5 hours/weekends/holidays required

Pay Range

$54.90 - $82.35

APP will function independently in the inpatient hospitalincollaboration with a supervising physician and other members of a multidisciplinary teamforcardiac surgical and non-surgical patients in the CVICUThese patients include but are not limited to complex neonatal repairs, VAD,ECMOand transplant patients.

Essential Functions:

  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate,disease-specifichistory and physicalexamination ofcomplex acute, critical, and chronicadvanced heart failure patients.

  • Rounds dailywith interdisciplinary team

  • Manages careand treatment planas thefront-lineproviderforpatients

  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests,including laboratory and radiologic

  • Prescribesappropriate pharmacologicand non-pharmacologic treatment modalities

  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions

  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medicallyappropriate mannerin the patient’s electronic medical record

  • Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary team including, but not limitedto:physicians, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, pharmacists,dieticians

  • Performs chest tube removals, pacer wire removalsand pediatric ICU proceduresincludingchest tube insertion, central and arterial line access and intubations

  • Attends,participates, and contributes to group/practice meetings,quality improvement, and policy and procedure development efforts whenrequested

  • Min Work standards-1880 hoursper year- shifts are varied with days, nights and weekends split amongst group excludingnocturnistAPPs.

Must be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of North and South Carolina. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in North and South Carolina. Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHArequiredwithexpirationdate greater than90 daysfrom date of beginning practice. Demonstratesappropriate criticalthinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate. 2+ years of experience as an APP in a relevant field preferred.

Participation in investigatorinitiatedand multi-center industry sponsored studies is ongoing within the Heart Center, with the support of an active clinical research department
