About the Role:

Under the supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor with a dotted line to the Heart Center Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the scheduling of cardiovascular lab procedures, registration and preparation thereof while embodying NGHS's Core Values at all times. Ensures the delivery of outstanding customer service while multi-tasking. Financially secures patient's account by verifying and obtaining complete and accurate patient demographic information, insurance benefits, eligibility, verification of pre-certification obtained from insurance companies and/or Physicians offices. Communicates patient responsibility, collects co-pay/deductible and completes the entire registration process in a pleasant and efficient manner.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications:

  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum Experience: Must be able to type 35-45 wpm. Proficient in the use of office equipment (computer, fax, telephone, scanning copier). Must be mobile and push patient in wheelchair, if necessary between any location within hospital campus.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling appointments, pre-registration, registration and financially securing hospital-based cardiovascular tests performed at Gainesville, Cumming and Braselton Heart Center locations. Cancel and reschedule appointments as necessary. Issue and witness patient consent for services and presents testing instructions to patients.

  • Correctly identifies (new or existing)patient prior to performing scheduling, pre-registration and registration duties in the scheduling and hospital based registration systems. At the point of registration he/she will obtain and verify valid physician order, patient identification and insurance card, scan into system and return cards to patient prior to exam, maintaining the order with the patients' chart.When no patient identification is available the rep must take picture and attach file to the patient's registration.

  • He/she will enter all required demographic data and financially secure the patient's account by entering and verifying the patient's correct insurance payor, verifying benefits, precertification status and will document the appropriate notes into the patient's encounter (including notes pertaining to the patient's financial responsibility).He/she must demonstrate and execute the ability to calculate and collect the patient's financial responsibility based on patient's financial status and meet collection goal that is determined by Patient Access Management.

  • Informs patient that the services to be rendered are hospital based.

  • He/she will print required face sheets, sticker sheets and other misc. documents.He/she will also place arm band on patient confirming patient name and date of birth before affixing to arm.

  • He/she must adhere to the dress code and give adequate notice when requesting time off.He/or she must adhere to department policies and procedures.

  • Miscellaneous Duties Assigned: Checking phone messages throughout day and returning calls as necessary. Transferring calls to the appropriate department. Routinely check fax machine in. Scheduling Department, sort and distribute faxes to appropriate department and/or person. Performs other duties as needed to assist Registration Manager and Supervisor, other office staff and Physicians including Heart Center Operations Management.
