We are currently looking for a Customs Expert who will be integral to driving high-level performance across Lovehoney Group. Partnering directly with the Director of Global Transportation, your focus will be on ensuring customs compliance and supporting the smooth movement of goods across international markets. In this role, you will combine your expertise in customs regulations and international trade with your ability to collaborate across teams and resolve operational challenges in a fast-paced global environment.

What you will do

  • Stay up-to-date with global customs regulations, trade laws, and compliance requirements to ensure the company's adherence to international trade standards.
  • Provide expert guidance and advice to internal teams, including procurement, transportation, and sales, on customs-related matters to support efficient cross-border shipments.
  • Collaborate with external partners, such as customs brokers and freight forwarders, to ensure accurate and timely customs documentation and clearance processes.
  • Classify products according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes and maintain a comprehensive understanding of tariff rates, duties, and taxes.
  • Advise on the preparation of customs declarations, certificates of origin, and other necessary documentation for international shipments.
  • Process customs declarations for selected countries.
  • Work closely with transportation managers to ensure compliance with customs regulations for different transportation modes, including seafreight, airfreight, parcels and road freight.
  • Conduct audits and reviews to identify potential customs compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Keep records of all customs-related documentation, ensuring proper archiving and organization for future reference and audits.
  • Support the resolution of customs-related issues, such as delays, inspections, or disputes, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and trade agreements that could impact the company's import and export operations, and provide recommendations for adjustments.

What you should bring

  • 5+ years of experience in customs regulations, import/export compliance, and international trade operations, ideally within a retail, logistics, or supply chain environment.
  • Degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Customs Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional certifications in customs and trade compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of global customs laws, tariff classifications, dangerous goods regulations, and international trade agreements.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage accurate customs documentation and compliance processes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex customs topics clearly to non-specialists.
  • Experience using customs software systems and compliance tools.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and adapt within a fast-paced international business environment.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to compliance, ethics, and continuous improvement.
  • What we can offer you

    • Join a modern and welcoming office where collaboration and creativity thrive in a friendly atmosphere.
    • Enjoy a hybrid working model that supports work-life balance, with one remote working day per week to help you stay flexible and focused.
    • Stay protected with comprehensive health insurance via Alan ensuring peace of mind for your well-being.
    • Stay secure at work and at home with a complimentary 1Password Family account. All Lovehoney Group employees can invite up to five family members to join, offering your household a safe and simple way to manage passwords and sensitive information safely and easily.
