HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

The Customs Compliance Specialist - Classification is responsible for supporting compliance projects and managed service contracts for major clients, providing HTS and ECCN classification of goods in accordance with import and export rules and regulations.

This is a remote position for candidates based in certain states.

EXPECTATIONS

• Complete HTS and ECCN tariff classification determinations, reviews, and opinions
• Submit applications for customs rulings on complex tariff, origin, and valuation matters
• Provide broker and client assistance with AD/CVD assessments (including SIMA in Canada)
• Maintain database integrity using internal and client software to organize information and workload
• Assist in drafting compliance processes and creating reports as needed
• Liaise with business partners on customs compliance issues
• Provide client support by addressing inquiries and resolving issues timely with professionalism
• Demonstrate attention to detail by ensuring accuracy

ESSENTIALS

• High school diploma required, degree preferred
• 2+ years of classification experience with expert knowledge of HTS classification
• 1+ year of experience determining ECCN export classification codes
• US Customs Broker license (LCB), CCS, or CES designation preferred
• Working knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Solid attention to detail
