Job Description

Renesas Electronics Penang is seeking a Customer Technical Support (CTS) Engineer to provide strategic customer technical support for key accounts. This role serves as a primary technical liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring successful execution of PPAP submissions, Customer-Specific Requirements (CSR), customer questionnaires, environmental compliance surveys, and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing, quality systems, customer requirements, and structured problem-solving. The role requires strong technical leadership, influence across organizations, and the ability to build trusted customer relationships without direct people-management responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Customer Technical Support

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer quality, reliability, manufacturing, and process-related inquiries.
• Build trusted relationships with customer quality, engineering, and supply chain organizations.
• Provide timely and accurate technical responses to customer requests and escalations.
• Represent customer requirements and concerns within cross-functional teams.

PPAP & Quality Documentation

• Own and coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions in alignment with customer and industry requirements.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of PPAP documentation, including:
  • Process Flow Diagrams
  • PFMEA
  • Control Plans
  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Capability Studies (Cp/Cpk)
• Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to resolve gaps and drive closure of corrective actions.

Customer-Specific Requirements (CSR)

• Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Customer-Specific Requirements (CSRs) across assigned accounts.
• Interpret, document, and deploy customer requirements across quality, manufacturing, and engineering functions.
• Maintain CSR tracking and compliance matrices.
• Support internal and external audits by providing compliance evidence and responding to findings.
• Drive continuous improvement and standardization initiatives to ensure sustainable CSR compliance.

Customer Questionnaires & Compliance Support

• Coordinate and complete customer technical questionnaires, audits, and assessments.
• Lead responses for environmental, sustainability, and regulatory surveys including:
  • ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 inquiries
  • RoHS
  • REACH
  • Conflict Minerals
  • Responsible Sourcing
  • ESG requirements
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of all customer-facing documentation.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

• Support cross-functional readiness reviews covering quality, reliability, and manufacturing readiness.
• Support first articles, qualification builds, reliability testing, and production ramp activities.
• Drive issue resolution during NPI phases and support successful volume production transitions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, quality engineering, customer technical support, or related technical roles
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (wafer fab, assembly, test, and reliability)
• Strong working knowledge of: Semiconductor fabrication, assembly, and/or test processes, Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949 preferred), Automotive and high reliability standards (e.g., AEC Q, customer quality manuals)
• Hands on experience: Customer-Specific Requirements (CSRs), PPAP submissions and approvals, Customer audits, questionnaires, and technical assessments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at technical, operational, and executive levels

Education:

• BSEE with 10+ years of relevant experience, or
• MSEE with 8+ years of relevant experience
