Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance technicians, shift teams, and subcontractors.
  • Allocate daily maintenance activities and ensure timely completion of jobs.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, safety compliance, and work quality.
  • Ensure manpower availability for shutdowns, breakdowns, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Conduct team meetings, training, and skill development activities.
  • Coordinate with production, utility, and engineering departments for maintenance planning.

1. Instrument Maintenance

  • Maintain and troubleshoot field instruments such as:
    • Pressure transmitters
    • Temperature sensors
    • Flow meters
    • Level transmitters
    • Control valves
    • Analyzers
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Attend breakdown maintenance and restore equipment quickly.

2. Calibration & Testing

  • Calibrate instruments according to standards and schedules.
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation.
  • Use calibration tools and test equipment properly.

3. TPM Activities

  • Implement TPM methodologies to improve equipment reliability.
  • Participate in:
    • Autonomous maintenance
    • Planned maintenance
    • Kaizen activities
    • Root cause analysis
  • Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow plant safety procedures and permit systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, safety, and quality standards.
  • Participate in HAZOP and safety audits if required.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare maintenance reports and checklists.
  • Update maintenance history in CMMS/SAP systems.
  • Maintain instrument datasheets and loop diagrams.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring failures and suggest improvements.
  • Reduce downtime and maintenance cost.
  • Support energy-saving and process optimization initiatives.

7.Required Skills

  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation
  • PLC/DCS troubleshooting
  • Calibration techniques
  • TPM concepts
  • Preventive maintenance planning
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Safety awareness

Qualification

  • B.Tech/B.E:
    • Instrumentation Engineering
    • Electronics & Instrumentation

Experience

  • Typically: 5–7 years in plant maintenance, manufacturing, refinery, power plant.
