The 1830 PSS 4LS Customer Support team provides primary Global R&D level support for customer problems.

Product Description:

1830 WDM/OTN Transmission System. This system provides leading-edge optical transmission capabilities at industry-leading data rates (100G+), optical reach, and bandwidth density, and a broad range of service capabilities including Ethernet, OTN switching, SONET, and SDH. The NOKIA 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) team is looking for highly motivated and experienced engineers to support customers in a rapidly growing market.

- Responsible for 1830 customer problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution

- 1830 4LS engineers are expected to be or become leading experts on one or more aspects of the 1830 Switched

WDM product and technology, including OTN switching, control and management software, and WDM optical transmission

- Required skills include strong analytic, problem-solving, and technical diagnostics skills as well as management

skills for coordination of problem resolution with R&D and customer support teams

- Responsibilities include working closely with field support teams to collect and analyze required diagnostic data and to work with R&D experts as required to resolve issues in timely way.

- Key responsibilities also include development of advanced diagnostic tools and contributions to the 1830 diagnostic knowledge base as well as training of the broader field support team.

Essential:

- Required skills include strong analytic, problem-solving, and technical diagnostic skills as well as management

capabilities for coordination of problem resolution with R&D and customer support teams

- Required background includes experience in software or hardware design and development, or system test of

communication systems

- Development or system test experience with OTN switch and transmission systems, specifically the 1830 PSS 24x OTN System

Strongly Desired:

- Development or test experience with WDM transmission systems

- Customer technical support experience

Qualifications:

- Degree: MS or PhD Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics
