Auckland Council’s Waste Solutions department has an opportunity for 2x Casual Customer Services Representative within the Waitakere Resource Recovery Park team.

Please note that we rely on our casual talent pool to provide cover for sick leave, annual leave, parental leave, and other staffing movements. We are looking for individuals who are flexible, reliable, and available to support our team as operational needs arise.

As we move into the busy summer period, there may be opportunities for increased hours for those who demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and availability to support operational needs.

This is an essential service role, with operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8am – 6pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8am – 4pm

Some weekend hours will be required weekly and can be discussed with the Hiring Manager during the interview process.

Reporting to the Weighbridge Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in the smooth daily operation of the Waitākere Resource Recovery Park This frontline position involves a mix of reception and administrative support, financial transaction handling, and delivering exceptional customer service — as the face of the site, you’ll help create a welcoming and efficient experience for all visitors.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Receive, and direct all visitors and customers
  • Assess and weigh loads; receive and receipt payments; input weights, etc. and collate documentation for reporting purposes
  • Provide support to Operations Manager when the Team Leader is not available. On call may be required when standing in for the Team Leader
  • Relay information between contractors, visitors, customers, and council staff with regards to day-to-day operational matters including the use of RT and Intercom communication systems

This role requires experience in similar customer service-related roles, with a sound understanding of working with customers in a front facing fashion.

We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Customer service experience in a face-to-face role.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise workloads and remain organised in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using technology and able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Flexible and willing to provide cover for planned and unplanned leave across a seven-day operation, Monday to Sunday.
  • Must have reliable transport and hold a current Restricted or Full New Zealand driver's licence.
