Apex Steel Supplies is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Customer Service Representative to join our Structural Steel division. This is a key role within our sales team, focused on delivering outstanding customer service, accurate quoting, and seamless order processing.

About the Role

As an Customer Service Representative, you’ll be the backbone of our sales operations - managing customer enquiries, preparing quotes, and ensuring orders are processed smoothly from start to finish. You’ll work closely with customers, external sales reps, and internal teams including production, processing, and transport to ensure every job runs efficiently and meets expectations. You’ll also have the opportunity to support our processing team with basic nesting and estimating, adding variety and development to your role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customer quotes, pricing requests and orders.
  • Manage incoming phone calls and email enquiries with professionalism and urgency
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both clients and the external sales team
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure smooth order fulfilment
  • Process purchase orders, including materials for processing jobs
  • Assist with basic nesting and processing estimates
  • Troubleshoot order or customer issues and escalate when required
  • Support walk-in and cash sale customers
  • Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain high accuracy across all tasks and documentation

About You

You’re organised, proactive, and confident communicating with a range of people. You enjoy working as part of a team but can also manage your own workload effectively.

You’ll bring:

Experience in internal sales, customer service, or a similar role

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • A problem-solving mindset and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and business systems (SAP or similar advantageous)
  • Knowledge of structural steel, long products, or construction terminology (Desirable)
  • Experience with FastCut, nesting, or estimating (Desirable)

Qualifications

Formal qualifications in sales, administration, or customer service are desirable but not essential - we value attitude and experience just as much.
