Job Description

kThe Animal Emergency Center is a 24-hour hospital that is open all holidays and weekends We are looking for motivated and dedicated individuals who are able to be flexible with scheduling, some nights, weekends and holidays are required. Attention to detail is extremely important as a receptionist. Applicants must have a professional work ethic, positive personality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prefer applicants to have veterinary experience, and knowledge of Cornerstone program but will consider the desire to learn from the right individual.

We are looking for someone who pays attention to detail, team player, enjoys working with animals, is reliable, and able to work without constant supervision.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Attention to detail is a must! Being prompt, dependable and willing to expand your knowledge, able to work without direct supervision.

  • Required: Must be able to communicate not only with clients but with nurses and doctors as well.

  • Must be able to multitask, possess excellent customer service skills in person and when answering the phone, letting clients into hospital, checking clients in and out as needed.

  • Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of lobby, restroom, and exam rooms to include re-stocking of office and exam room supplies.

  • Being calm and patient during emergency situations.

  • Responsible for checking the client’s information and updating it as necessary.

  • Triaging patients coming into hospital and taking immediately back if necessary and keeping clients informed throughout their visit.

  • Paying attention to clients who are currently in hospital and periodically checking on them as needed and making sure nurses/doctors know they are waiting.

  • Requires lifting, carrying animals up to 50 pounds and (assisted by other staff members as necessary)

  • May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces, blood etc. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.

  • May be asked to assist another staff member on occasion with tasks such as helping restrain an animal, helping clients with their pets.
