Job Description

Do you want to work for an iconic Tasmanian organisation committed to changing lives and making a difference to your community?

St John Tasmania is not-for-profit, purpose-driven organisation that has been enhancing community safety through first aid for over a century. We are committed to supporting our local communities with initiatives such as our First Aid in Schools and Free Community Defibrillator programs. Our team consists of both employees and volunteers, dedicated and passionate about our mission. We take pride in fostering a culture that is customer-focused, quality-driven, and future-focused.

We are seeking a Customer Service Officer to join our Customer Supplies team on a casual basis, located in Devonport. This dynamic role involves supporting customers through our First Aid retail outlet, Scooters & Mobility store, and First Aid Kit servicing vans. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers, assisting them in selecting products and equipment that best meet their needs across our First Aid retail outlet, Scooters & Mobility store, and through our First Aid kit servicing. This is a highly varied and hands-on position where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include sales, managing inventory, providing scheduling and completing kit servicing and assembling of mobility and first aid equipment.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering outstanding customer service standards to exceed customer expectations.

• Managing inventory effectively, including invoicing, maintaining appropriate stock levels, and upholding merchandising standards.

• Developing and continually improving your knowledge of first aid supplies and mobility products to assist clients in achieving optimal outcomes.

• Maintaining accurate records using internal systems (e.g., MYOB or similar).

• Assembling mobility and first aid equipment, performing warranty repairs, and liaising with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.

• Scheduling, coordinating, and completing kit servicing appointments.

• Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to Work Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice, and relevant policies and procedures.

• Building strong customer relationships to enhance brand loyalty and expand our reach.

• Experiencing MYOB or similar software, gaining exposure to a warehousing or logistics environment, or having previous experience in the healthcare sector would be beneficial but not essential.

What You Need to Succeed

• A customer-centric approach, with the capability to build strong relationships and provide an exceptional and responsive customer experience.

• Technical aptitude for assembling equipment.

• A collaborative spirit, able to work effectively in a team environment.

• Proficient in using and leveraging technology to boost productivity.

• Detail-oriented, with strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and solve problems proactively.

• A skilled communicator who can clearly and confidently engage with customers both in person and over the phone.

Essential Requirements

• National Police Check (issued within the last 6 months).

• Working with Vulnerable People Registration (NDIS endorsed).

• Unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence.

• Australian residency or valid working visa.
