About the Department
The Event Development and Production department develops and produces NYRR events from concept all the way through execution in alignment with NYRR’s mission. The TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half and the Royal Bank of Canada Brooklyn Half are just a few of the 40+ adult events and 30+ Rising New York Road Runner youth events produced by the team each year. The team is responsible for core elements of the operations including physical site management, timing and scoring operations, volunteer management, hospitality and special events, safety and security, management of our warehouse and all race collateral, city and state agency relationship management, and permitting.
The Youth Events team oversees the development and execution of over 40 Rising New York Road Runners events per year, including events associated with our Five-Borough series and the TCS New York City Marathon, each serving 100 – 2,500 or more participants; and the support of other youth and community-based efforts. All youth events and activities are FREE and support the Rising New York Road Runners program as well as individual parents in the area.
About the Position
Youth Associates - Youth team associates will work closely with community partners to ensure the safety and well-being of our youth-aged participants. Associates will support in areas not limited to race registration, family reunion, and transportation, to ensure that coaches, parents, and participants have a positive experience and successful event.
Requirements
- This is a weekend position with long hours (typically from 6am – 1pm; may vary based on event and/or position). Races are scheduled for most weekends throughout the year; must have consistent availability for this role.
- Excellent customer service approach and positive attitude are a must. Must be comfortable working with new and diverse groups of people on a regular basis.
- Must be comfortable on your feet, outside in the elements, for the duration of the shift.
- Must have a strong customer service background; event experience in the sports and/or entertainment industries, is preferred but not required.
- Flexibility to navigate between roles depending on need for each race.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Must be proactive, responsible, attentive, hardworking, and professionally courteous to all runners, spectators, and park patrons.
- Must be able to follow directions and protocols to ensure that tasks flow seamlessly.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds of equipment.
Hourly Rate: $22.00
