He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Waste department has an opportunity for a permanent full-time Customer Response Coordinator to join the team. Reporting to the Waste Customer Team Leader, this role is primarily based at our Manukau office, with a minimum of three days in the office, including Monday as the designated team day, with flexibility on the location of the remaining office days.

As a Customer Response Coordinator, you'll play an important role in delivering responsive, accurate, and customer-focused support across Auckland Council's Waste Solutions services.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll manage a wide range of customer enquiries and service requests, helping ensure waste services are delivered efficiently and customers receive timely, high-quality support.

You could expect to work on:

  • Managing end-to-end customer enquiries, requests, sundry invoice billing and customer escalations related to Waste Solutions services.
  • Coordinating and monitoring waste service requests, including bin-related cases and inorganic collection bookings.
  • Maintaining accurate records, databases, and reporting to support effective service delivery and decision-making.
  • Working closely with contractors and internal teams to resolve customer issues and ensure timely outcomes.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance the customer experience.

We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused professional who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys finding solutions for customers. You'll be highly organised, able to juggle competing priorities, and confident building positive working relationships with a wide range of people.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven customer service experience, ideally managing enquiries and resolving issues from start to finish.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on providing clear and professional service.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new systems. Experience with SAP, Mohio, or waste services is an advantage
