Job Description

Flowserve is seeking a skilled Customer Product Repair Mechanic to drive hands-on teardown, inspection, reconditioning, and assembly of critical industrial equipment. Operating in an active, precision-driven Quick Response Center (QRC) environment, you will handle rotating machinery, industrial pumps, high-energy electric actuators, small compressors, and decoking systems. Your craftsmanship directly impacts equipment uptime and reliability for premier energy, industrial, and infrastructure customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, recondition, and rebuild industrial rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, decoking hardware, and high-energy electric actuators according to engineering drawings and work routers.
  • Perform Disassembly, Cleaning, and Inspection (DCI) processes; document component wear and failure modes, photograph parts per checklist standards, and complete inspection reports prior to quotation.
  • Accurately set up and utilize precision measuring instruments—including micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and bore gauges—to verify critical fits, tolerances, and run-outs.
  • Operate dynamic balancing equipment to precision-balance rotating assemblies and components.
  • Execute quality assurance testing, including low-pressure pneumatic leak tests and high-pressure hydrostatic pressure tests.
  • Safely apply thermal fits using controlled heat sources (torches/induction heaters) and liquid nitrogen for bearing and sleeve installations.
  • Operate overhead bridge cranes, hoists, rigging hardware, and forklifts to position heavy industrial assemblies safely.
  • Finish, paint, install industrial tagging, and prep completed machinery for outgoing customer shipment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production planners, service coordinators, application engineers, and customers regarding equipment condition and repair milestones.
  • Champion shop floor safety, actively participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives, and exercise Stop Work Authority when safety risks arise.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical repair, teardown, and assembly experience with industrial rotating equipment, pumps, or mechanical machinery.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical blue prints, engineering cross-sections, shop routers, and technical checklists.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) and documenting critical fits/clearances.
  • Working knowledge of electrical wiring or electromechanical assembly.
  • Ownership of a standard personal roll-around toolbox and basic hand/measurement tools.
  • Basic computer literacy, including navigation of work order systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, maneuver tools, and lift up to 25 pounds, with schedule flexibility to work overtime and weekend shifts as customer repair demands require

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with valve automation, electric actuation, or hydraulic/pneumatic controls.
  • Background working in a fast-paced field service, aftermarket QRC, or dynamic pump/compressor overhaul facility.
  • Experience conducting hydrostatic pressure testing and operating dynamic balancing machinery.
