Supervise and manage technical work-related activities associated with the planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance and operation of Company equipment and facilities. This role will responsibly direct Distribution Design Technicians, work schedulers, or project support which includes managing day-to-day work assignments and activities, assigning work, reviewing work performed for correctness and completeness, and ensuring employees follow company work and safety policies and procedures when completing work. It further includes performing field observations for skills competency and adherence to company design standards (standards currently being created by all OPCOs). It includes coaching employees on performance and policy issues, issuing disciplinary action when necessary, and addressing 1st step grievances. This role also participates in the grievance process through arbitration by being involved in research, interviews, investigations, recommending steps forwards, and speaking directly to issues alleged. This role will issue discipline and will effectively recommend discharge. Additionally, this role will be responsible for providing input on hiring, firing, and performance activities as they occur. This work will include participating in interviews and assessing candidates and providing input in performance reviews and participating in performance discussions based on knowledge from observed daily work activities. Additional responsibilities and job scope might be specific to the organizational unit (e.g. OpCo, district, etc.) and may be provided on an addendum to this job description, as prepared by the organizational unit.
