POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides excellent customer service for fitness center visitors, provides information, collects fees and monitors the orderly operation of the center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greets and assists customers and patrons upon entering the facility;
- Collects membership fees and merchandise items fees and issues receipts;
- Promotes, markets and closes sale of new facility memberships;
- Issues membership cards and visitor passes;
- Closes out cash register, counts money, completes cash sheets, makes change bag for next shift, and submits money collected and documentation to safe;
- Process registration applications for membership and ensures applications are properly completed;
- Performs reception duties such as answers telephone, responds to visitors inquiries regarding programs and classes offered, and provides potential members with facility tours;
- Accepts reservations for sports facilities, classes and programs offered and for facility and field reservations;
- Adds registrants to appropriate activities and conducts access control;
- Enters membership data into POS system;
- Ensures fitness center rules, safety standards and sanitation requirements are followed;
- Sets up meeting rooms, tables and chairs, movie screens and audiovisual equipment;
- Assists in training of new staff;
- Monitor and maintain fitness equipment;
- Assists in implementation of emergency action plan at the facility;
- Conducts open and closing functions such as control desk operations including lights, computer, copier, cash register and ensuring that building is empty and secured at closing;
- Other duties and function as assigned.

QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or its equivalent (G.E.D.) Plus six months to one-year experience in a customer service position; must be able to attain First Aid and CPR certification within six months of hire; Bilingual-English/Spanish; must be able to work varied shifts and weekends; must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and a criminal history background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; excellent telephone etiquette; ability to multiple tasks and prioritize duties; excellent communication skills, both orally and written; ability to learn to operate Point of Sale (POS) system and multiline telephone system; knowledge of standard office equipment; must have excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to work independently with minimal supervision; position requires poise, tact and diplomacy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds and possibly 100 pounds to move free weights. The vision requirements include: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
