About the Job

Join us at an exciting growth stage as we establish our e‑motor and e‑drive business in China, backed by our experienced German headquarters. In this role, you will work at the technical interface between OEM customers, engineering, and manufacturing—supporting vehicle integration, defining e‑motor system architectures, and translating customer requirements into robust, series‑ready solutions. This is your chance to be one of the first on the ground in China, make a real impact from day one, and grow with us as we scale up.
Target start date for this Role is June to September.

Your Tasks

Customer
Application & Integration:

  • Support vehicle integration (packaging, loads, thermal behavior, NVH)
  • Analyze customer duty cycles, load cases, and environmental requirements
  • Lead technical discussions with OEM customers and support design reviews

System
& Architecture:

  • Define and support e‑motor system architectures for central and in‑wheel motor applications
  • Optimize performance, efficiency, and power density based on customer use cases
  • Define mechanical, electrical, and thermal interfaces to vehicle systems
  • Develop key motor components including stator, rotor, bearings, cooling, and sealing concept

RFQ, Validation & Industrialization Support

  • Provide technical input for RFQs, feasibility studies, and risk assessments
  • Support DFMEA / PFMEA, validation plans, and prototype testing
  • Ensure designs are DFM/DFA compliant and suitable for China‑based series production
  • Align with manufacturing and suppliers through development to SOP

Your Profile

  • 8+ years working in electric motor, drivetrain, or application engineering
  • Practical expertise with central drive units or in‑wheel motor systems
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical) is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of automotive standards and development processes (V-model, APQP)
  • Background collaborating with automotive OEMs or major Tier‑1 suppliers
  • Experience guiding products through all stages from early concept to SOP
  • Structured, analytical, and cost-driven mindset linked with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-growing, SOP-driven organization
  • Fluent in English and Chinese

About DeepDrive

We are DeepDrive, a high-tech company headquartered in Munich, Germany, offering revolutionary drive units for electric vehicles.

Addressing the most pressing challenges of today's electric vehicles, our patented Dual Rotor motor topology does not only enable high-volume EVs with >800 km of range but also can save automakers more than €1 billion in costs when deployed at scale. Additionally, it enables EVs to drastically reduce carbon emissions, potentially saving multiple gigatonnes of CO2 emissions over the EV fleet's lifetime. Versatile in design, our technology can be seamlessly integrated into the wheels or employed as a traditional central drive.

Our experts with extensive experience in large-scale series production and the support of high-profile investors, including Leitmotif, BMW i Ventures, Continental‘s Corporate Venture Capital Unit, UVC Partners,, and Bayern Kapital make DeepDrive the motor of electric mobility. Additional investors include industry veteran Dr. Peter Mertens (former board member and CTO of Audi and Volvo) and top start-up executive Jonas Rieke (COO of Personio).
