We are seeking highly experienced Base Software Lead to architect and lead the development of Android Automotive OS (AAOS) base software for next-generation vehicle infotainment systems. The ideal candidate will drive platform integration, performance optimization, and compliance with automotive-grade standards across multiple vehicle programs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and integration of Android Automotive base software components including HALs, AOSP, and system services.
Architecture, Design and Develop Android-based infotainment applications and frameworks.
Own the Board Support Package (BSP), bootloader, kernel, and device driver stack for automotive hardware platforms.
Collaborate with hardware, UX, middleware, and application teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Drive compliance with automotive standards including ISO 26262, ASPICE, and cybersecurity (ISO 21434).
Optimize system performance, boot time, and resource utilization for infotainment ECUs.
Manage OTA update mechanisms, diagnostics, and system logging.
Interface with silicon vendors, Tier-1 suppliers, and OEMs to align platform requirements.
Mentor and guide a team of Android and embedded engineers across multiple vehicle programs.
Own the AAOS base software roadmap and contribute to platform strategy.
Work closely with the requirements team, UX/UI designers, and embedded systems teams.
Implement in-vehicle infotainment user centric features utilizing VHAL functionalities.
Customize Android framework for customized Infotainment platform
Conduct testing and debugging of functionalities to ensure functionality and quality.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues.
Work closely with cross-functional teams across globe
Professional & Technical Skills:
Technical Experience:
Overall, 12+ years of experience in Infotainment domain with experience in Android Development.
Strong experience in Android Automotive OS (AAOS), AOSP, and embedded Linux.
Expertise in HAL development, kernel customization, and low-level debugging.
Familiarity with automotive hardware platforms (ARM, x86) and SoCs.
Experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
Knowledge of secure boot, SELinux, OTA, and system diagnostics.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience in developing Android applications with AI functionalities
Proficiency in Java and Kotlin, and familiarity with C++ for native components.
Experience in custom VHAL integration, enhancements.
Experience in one of the areas: Audio framework, video display, In cabin controls, navigation, playlist, voice, vehicle data monitoring
Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
Knowledge in working with Infotainment setup.
Knowledge in cloud platform
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross functional team
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
