Division Within the Housekeeping Department at ELMHS, Located in Jackson, LA

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana

ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as a Custodian Supervisor A! The selected candidate for this role will supervise custodial staff by assigning and monitoring work, providing training and competency assessments, ensuring compliance with cleaning, sanitation, and safety standards, evaluating performance, overseeing biohazard waste disposal, and conducting inspections to maintain a safe and functional environment.

Examples of duties

Two years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

Job Duties:

In this role, you will:

  • Assign duties and responsibilities to subordinate Custodian staff located in various units of ELMHS.
  • Provide oversight and support to ensure that duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with ELMHS policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Provide unit-specific orientation and competency assessment for subordinate Custodian Staff
  • Inspect assigned buildings to assure compliance with assigned duties. Utilizes the Continuous Performance Management system to document subordinate custodial staff performance.
  • Oversee procedures for subordinate staff in the cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation of areas in which body fluids are present.
  • Verify the proper disposal of bio-hazardous waste. Reports all safety hazards in a timely manner.
  • Conducts random inspections of Custodial Services equipment to ensure functionality and safety

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule: 8 Hr.
