Job Qualifications:

  1. Must possess High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  2. Able to read and write.
  3. Must have obtained the 0-60 and 60-90 Custodian Certificate, or in the process of obtaining it within 60 days of hire.
  4. Three years of custodial experience or related.
  5. Works independently and in a team environment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment, follow through on assigned tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
  7. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and interact professionally with staff and students.
  8. Commitment to professional development.


Essential Functions:

  1. Administers program plan of cleaning care of assigned building areas in any shift, in accordance with established guidelines.
  2. Implement plans, scheduled staff assignments, and cleaning tasks, based on workload and available manpower.
  3. Re-assigns staff to fully ensure that work is accomplished according to schedule.
  4. Reminds staff of District policies, departmental guidelines and directives from all meetings affecting the custodial operation.
  5. Maintains a perpetual inventory system, including the requisition of new cleaning equipment and supplies, and ensures proper distribution and control.
  6. Inspects buildings and assigned areas for compliance with cleaning programs.
  7. Provides investigation of complaints for unsatisfactory cleaning performance and take and resolve problems.
  8. Evaluates work performance against acceptable standards by reviewing production activity reports and complaints of unsatisfactory cleaning performance.
  9. Participates in conducting orientation of new employees and ensures that standards are being met by follow-up with Building Chief I / Building Chief II or their designee.
  10. Required to work outdoors for adverse weather conditions, such as snow removal, grass cutting, etc.
