Job Description

HOURS OF WORK: 8 Hour Daily/247 Calendar Days Yearly

STATUS: Classified – Non-Exempt, Full Time

This position is responsible for maintaining and protecting the assigned district building. This position is expected to maintain the external and internal appearance of the building.

This position reports to the Principal.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with equipment and furniture arrangement, daily operations, delivery of items, fixture maintenance, loading/unloading of trucks, and snow removal.
  • Collaborates with other maintenance staff to complete site activities.
  • Communicates information and supports district staff and students.
  • Conducts routine training to ensure proper custodial procedures are in order.
  • Monitors district staff and students around work areas to respond to emergency situations.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and schedules with supervisor to complete maintenance objectives.
  • Replenishes necessary building supplies.
  • Responds to immediate operational and safety concerns to determine appropriate action.
  • Sanitizes facilities and maintains the facilities landscape.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • ​​Demonstrate understanding of verbal and written communication and ability to speak and write at a level sufficient to perform the duties of the job.
  • ​High school diploma or equivalent preferred​
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • ​​Minimum of two years of building cleaning/custodial experience is required.​
  • ​​Floor care experience required.​

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate understanding of verbal and written communication and ability to speak and write at a level sufficient to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment
  • Highly collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the performance of heavy work. The position involves some balancing, climbing, crawling crouching, kneeling, and respective motion. Occasional feeling, fingering, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, talking, and reaching. Frequent hearing and walking. The position also requires working in environmental conditions with varied atmospheric conditions, close quarters, extreme cold/heat, hazards, loud noise, indoor/outdoor environment, narrow aisles/passages, and vibrations.
