The Custodian (First, Second and Third Shift) is responsible for cleaning and caring for all LU Facilities, on and off campus. The Custodian is to maintain, provide and assure an aesthetically pleasing, clean, sanitary and safe environment in a variety of spaces including lobbies, hallways, dorms, bathrooms, showers, locker rooms, classrooms, offices, food service areas, and other public event areas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
This position requires a high school degree or GED. Minimum of 1+ years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. State Driver’s license and insurable with company’s agent. Well-developed communications skills. Experience with residential, and/ or commercial/ industrial cleaning (methods and safety) field is preferred. Must be able to understand and follow directions, and work under limited Supervision. Must be able to work well with the public and co-workers and present a positive attitude, clean and professional appearance. Must be courteous, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and trustworthy. Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform duties of the Custodial trade in typical Virginia Climate.

The standard custodial work shift hours are as follows:
1st shift: 6:30a-3pm
2nd Shift: 3pm-1:30am (10-hour shift @ 4 days a week)
3rd Shift: 10:30pm-7am
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
