Position: Custodian-Fireman #37063 Location: The Bayard School

Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Closing Date: September 22, 2026

Reports To: Reports to the Facilities Manager and/or the building principal or their designee.

Basic Function: P Performs custodian-fireman duties coordinated by the chief custodian or administrator; provide services which will offer clean, comfortable, healthful, safe, and attractive buildings for students and staff. Assumes a major responsibility for the operation and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Same as the qualifications of a Custodian.
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions, write reports, and maintain written records.
  • Must hold a custodian-fireman certificate (90 hours).

STARTING DATE: To Be Determined

SALARY: Commensurate with appropriate Effective Nov 2025.

Custodian-Fireman

DUTIES:

  • Operates boilers, burners, ventilation and mechanical equipment, including building automated systems.
  • Maintains and does minor repairs of furniture.
  • Moves furniture within building.
  • Assists in all preventive maintenance and minor repair of building equipment.
  • Assists in all cleaning as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
