Custodian

Location: Edina High School | Status: Non-Exempt | Schedule: Full-time (8 hours/day, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, M-F), 12-Month Position

Position Summary:

With the focus to support and advance the Edina Public Schools' mission, vision and core values, the Custodian, under the direction of the Custodian Supervisor and the guidance of the Night Lead, is responsible for performing general cleaning within assigned areas, hallways, restrooms gyms and school areas in accordance with cleaning schedules and work assignments to provide a safe, clean learning environment for students, faculty and staff. The custodian assists building personnel in the loading and unloading of district materials, and deliveries; relocation of desks, chairs, and equipment during building moves; and providing assistance and support for day and evening school activities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Boiler license preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Pool license preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Mechanical aptitude for performing and learning repair work
  • Custodian experience preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Interest in working in a school district environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, employees, and visitors.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with employees.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: The wage for this position ranges from $24.26 to $25.67 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates will start at the entry-level rate of $24.26 per hour.

All employees participate in the state's largest pension program, the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). In addition, employees can participate in the 403(b) retirement program, with eligibility for a district match based on the terms and conditions outlined in the employee work agreement. Eligible employees also receive paid time off in accordance with the provisions outlined in the employee work agreement.
