ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.   • Sweep, mop, and scrub all floors.
  • Empty trash, garbage, and recycling containers daily.
  • Clean and wash walls, windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Clean all restroom fixtures and refill dispensers.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and furniture.
  • Complete assigned online training by the established due date(s).
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

Depending on assignment and location, this role may assist up to 30% of the time with clerical duties including but not limited to reviewing maintenance work orders, document scanning and filing, email communications, and updating expense spreadsheets.

JOB SCOPE

This position serves in the capacity of the Custodian General discretion and judgment are exercised routinely in the execution of job duties. If errors in judgment or professional execution of responsibilities are made, the department may be negatively impacted.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS

Internal contacts consist of levels of positions in the company from business unit leaders to entry level positions. External contacts consist of visitors and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, safely and in alignment with Peterson’s core values.   • Basic computer skills are required, including ability to:
    • Navigate basic computer systems and programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a custodian, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENCENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must have ability to obtain a lift truck certification.

Work is performed in a combination of an office and field environment Work outside the office and shop areas that may or may not have climate controls will be required. This is a full-time position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers to handle/fell objects, and reach with hands/arms. Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl and is occasionally required to sit. Must continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most work performed is in an office environment with climate and noise controls. Occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions will occur when working in warehouse, shop, or outdoor environments. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in work areas where it is required.
