Job Description

Georgia State University located in Dunwoody is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of campus facilities. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining academic, administrative, residential, and common areas in accordance with university standards to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Schedule: Monday- Friday 2:00PM-10:30PM $16.50/hr

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, laboratories, and common areas

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and buff floors; clean carpets and rugs

• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly

• Restock restroom supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizer

• Clean windows, glass surfaces, and fixtures

• Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, and university functions

• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to supervisors

• Operate and maintain custodial equipment and cleaning supplies safely

• Follow all university safety, sanitation, and environmental guidelines

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred

• Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods

• Must pass a background check in accordance with university policy

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a university, school, hospital, or large facility setting

• Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment

• Strong attention to detail and time management skill
